McM's Scroggins earns ASC honor

December 4, 2017 - RICHARDSON, Texas -   After leading the McMurry University men's basketball team to a 2-0 start in league games last weekend, senior forward LaRandall Scroggins (Carrollton, Texas/Hebron H.S.) was named as the American Southwest Conference West Division Player of the Week.
 
Scroggins had back-to-back double-doubles, as the War Hawks (2-2, 2-0 ASC) topped both Louisiana College (95-73) and Belhaven University (91-87).  Scroggins averaged 21.0 points and 12.5 rebounds per game, all while shooting a blistering 72.7 percent (16-22) from the field.
 
Scroggins had the seventh and eighth double-doubles of his career. Versus Louisiana College, Scroggins had 19 points and 13 rebounds (both game-high totals), hitting 8-of-9 from the field. He then had 23 points and 12 boards (again, both game-high totals) at Belhaven.
 
On the year, Scroggins leads McMurry in scoring (17.3 p.p.g.), rebounds (9.5 r.p.g.) and field goal percentage (60.4 pct.).
