The Anson Tigers are one of the best  baseball teams in the Big Country for the 2nd year in a row.

The Tigers are ranked 8th in the state with a 13-4 record this season, and the pitching staff is helping to pave the way.

In district play so far, Tigers pitchers have given up 6 runs in 9 games. 4 of those coming against 4th ranked Stamford, and last night, Anson pitched a no-hitter against Roby. In other words, they are good.

Head coach Mario Estrada said, "The just know how to locate pretty good, and they get their curve ball over for a strike when they have to, and they throw their curve ball for an out when they have to. As long as we are throwing strikes, which they have been, it's been keeping us in games."
Starting pitcher Matt Villanueva, "It can be attributed to everybody. Defensively, we work hard every day in practice and get better. We try to cut down on mistakes. We do a great job in the field defensively getting outs. We have a great catcher. He's good a pitching calling, and he keeps a lot of balls in front and saves us some runs that way, also."

In district play, the Tigers have an ERA of 0.35.

Anson finishes up district play with a game against Stamford on Monday night.
