The Tigers did not have to look far to find their next head football coach. Naming assistant coach James Polk as the man to take the helm in Snyder.

Back in early March, Aubrey Sims left Snyder to take over at Iowa Park. During his two years in Snyder, Sims led the Tigers to a 7-15 record and a bi-district win against Clint in 2013.

Polk was a member of Sims staff in Snyder, and was named the interim athletic director after Sims' departure.

Now Polk will take over a Snyder team that makes the move to Class 4A Div. I in 2014, and is placed in a district with the likes of Brownwood, Wylie, Big Spring, and Stephenville.

James Polk said "To be named the Athletic Director and Head Coach at Snyder is a great opportunity. Snyder has a lot of tradition. They've had a lot of success in the past under Coach (Chad) Rogers, and I just want to do the best I can to represent the community, the school district and take care of their kids, and what I call restore the roar. I just think that as long as they buy all in to what we do, and we buy all in to the kids, the wins and losses will take care of themselves.">>

The Snyder school board will vote on Polk's contract at their next meeting on April 10th.
