Stamford Advances With 18-6 Win Over Forsan

The Stamford Bulldogs punched their ticket to the regional finals for the fifth straight year with a game three victory over Forsan on Saturday.

The Bulldogs jumped out to a four to nothing lead in the top of the first after Gus West took advantage of a passed ball to score from third.

Forsan would answer in the bottom half of the frame with a two-run single and cut the Stamford lead in half.

Pitcher Bo Wimberly would get out of the jam with a strikeout to limit the damage a short time later, and keep the Bulldogs in front at 4-2.

Then in the second inning third baseman Ty McLemore would get one of those runs back with a base knock into center field. From there the Bulldogs would pull away for a 18-6 victory.

Now the Bulldogs will take on district rival Anson for a trip to the State Tournament in Austin. Game one of the regional finals will be on Thursday at McMurry's Walt Driggers field at 7 p.m. Game two will be on Saturday at noon, and if a game three is needed, it will follow 30 minutes after game two.
