Stamford Heading Back to State Title Game

The Stamford Bulldogs are on their way back to the Class 1A Div. I state title game after knocking off Hico on Saturday afternoon.

Hico would strike first with a touchdown drive, but the Bulldogs would be quick to answer. A touchdown pass from Bo Wimberly to Zai Zai Smith would put Stamford ahead 7-6, but they were not done there.

A short time later, Wimberly would find the endzone on a forth and one play deep in Hico territory. Then Wimberly would follow that up with a touchdown pass to one of his favorite targets, James Washington, to put the Bulldogs on top 20-6.

The Tigers would not go quietly though, and come back to tie the game in the second half. A late touchdown by the Bulldogs would help seal a 34-26 victory.

Now they will meet Shiner in the Class 1A Div. I state title game on Thursday at AT&T Stadium in Arlington. Kick-off is scheduled for 10:00 a.m.
