The Stamford Bulldogs held off New Deal to advance to the state semifinals on Monday afternoon.

New Deal got off to a good start on their opening drive, but an interception by James Washington at the Bulldogs two-yard-line would put end to the Lions threat.

The Bulldogs would then turn that into a touchdown a few plays later with a run by Washington to put Stamford up 7-0.

An 80-yard touchdown run by Bo Wimberly would stretch the Bulldogs' lead to 14-0 at the beginning of the second quarter.

The Lions would continue to rally and take the lead in the fourth quarter. Then with just 34 ticks left on the clock, the Bulldogs would find the endzone.

Stamford would hold on from there for a 29-26 victory. The Bulldogs will now take on Hico on Saturday in San Angelo at 3:00 p.m.
