Sweetwater Falls To West Orange-Stark In Title Game

'Stangs Fall In State Championship game

December 16, 2016 - West Orange-Stark's defense dominates Sweetwater to claim second straight state championship with 24-6 victory.

Defense was the name of the game in the first half.

Sweetwater's defense gave their team the lead when Luke James returned a fumble 96 yards in the first quarter. The 2-point conversion failed. Sweetwater led, 6-0.

West Orange-Stark took the lead late in the 2nd quarter with a touchdown down run by Jeremiah Shaw. West Orange-Stark leads, 7-6.

Defense delivered the big play to start the second half.

West Orange-Stark started the second half by intercepting Chris Thompson to set the offense up at the Mustangs 6 yard line.

Sweetwater's defense made a stand and forced West Orange-Stark to kick a 20 yard field goal to make it, 10-6 WOS.

West Orange-Stark put it away in the 4th quarter.

Sweetwater quarterback Chris Thompson fumbled and hurt his kne on the Mustangs next possession. West Orange Stark recovered.

Quarterback Dallas Jack scored on a quarterback sneak to make it a 17-6 game.

West Orange-Stark picked off a pass on Sweetwater's next possession and returned it for a touchdown. WOS takes a 24-6 lead and win it 24-6.

Sweetwater season ends with a 13-2 record.
