Tanner Wright Wins Gold In 200M

June 2nd, 2017 - Calif. – McMurry University sprinter Tanner Wright earned a gold medal on day one of the U.S. Paralympics Track & Field National Championships, winning the 200 meters at the University of California-Los Angeles. Wright took top honors in a time of 22.53 seconds on the Drake Stadium track.

Wright – who has not competed in a meet in nearly three full weeks (since the National Christian College Athletic Association Outdoor Championships in Shawnee, Okla.) – ran his third-fastest time of the season in winning the T45-47 race (individuals affected in one or both upper limbs) of the 200.

Wright will be going for his second gold of the Championships on Saturday evening, when he competes in the finals of the 100 meters. Coming in, Wright has the top qualifying time of 10.80 in the 100 meters.
