Texas West State Little League Scores & Highlights

July 15th, 2017 - JUNIOR:

The Texas West State Little league tournament continued Saturday. It was the first day for a lot of teams.

In the junior bracket, the Wylie All-Stars took on Alice American at noon.

Wylie fell behind in the second inning when Adan Moreno knocked a fielder's choice to short that plated a run. Wylie trailed 1-0.

Wylie did hang in thanks to some great defense. Landon Williams was behind the plate and gunned down the runner stealing for the second out of the second inning.

Then pitcher Walker Piland finishes off the inning getting Matthew Molina to go down looking to end the second, and then Wylie got it going with the bats.

But Alice American didn't roll over. Right at the end they take down Wylie 6-5.

The Wylie All-Stars will play in the loser's bracket starting Sunday at noon against Pecos.

Moving up more in the brackets. The Wylie senior team played against Pecos tonight.

Pecos got on the board in the first. Jacob Zuniga crushed one out to left field, and that's a gonner. Pecos takes a 1-0 lead.

They keep it up in the second. Nate Baca knocked a grounder to third, and that brings Justin Flores home. Pecos leads 2-0.

Wylie started their comeback in the top of the third. Xavier Rodela slipped it out to centerfield. Cooper Herbachek scored, and now it's now 3-1.

Wylie led 5 to 4 in the 6th.

The Dixie Little Leaguers took on Corpus Christi Oil Belt Saturday evening.

Oil Belt got going in the top of the first when Mark Chapa ripped one out to left center. Joel Silva comes home, and Oil Belt takes a 3-0 lead, and they kept it up in the second.

Emiliano Zapata kills it for a solo bomb. Oil Belt leads 4-0.

Dixie fought back though. Chase Neves crushes a ball all the way out to the centerfield fence in the bottom of the sixth. Hunter Smith comes home and Dixie ties it up at six.

However, Corpus Christi Oil Belt had some big bats to put this one away.

They take down Dixie 21-10. Dixie plays in the losers bracket Sunday at 6pm.

The Snyder Intermediate All-Stars fought to stay alive today in the losers bracket against Laredo Saturday morning, but unfortunately can't get it done as they fall 12-2 to bring a great season to an end.
