The Goldthwaite Eagles are playing their best football right now.

The Eagles struggled to start the season with 4 straight loses to teams that eventually made the playoffs.

Since then, Goldthwaite is riding an 8 game winning streak with wins over 5 playoff teams.

It's going well, and they credit the games at the beginning of the season.

Co-head coach Greg Proffitt said, "We definitely had a brutal schedule that we had to overcome. We played some teams that are still playing, but we knew that if we stuck together and battled it out, we would be okay once district came around, and we've done that."

The Eagles Jaggar Parrish added, "Our preseason was pretty tough. We played a lot of good teams, a lot of 2A teams that were pretty good. We finally pulled it together through district. All those hard teams helped. Now, we're in the quarterfinals playing to the best of our abilities."

The Eagles take on a district rival for the 2nd week in a row. They beat DeLeon last week by 1. Hico is next on Friday night in Brownwood.
