The search for Eastland's next head football coach is over with the hiring of Cliff Watkins.

Watkins comes from Midland Lee, where helped lead the Rebels to a share of the District 2-5A title in 2013 as their offensive coordinator. it was also Watkins' one and only season with the Midland Lee Rebels.

Prior to becoming the Rebels offensive coordinator, Watkins as the wide receivers coach and passing coordinator at Stephenville. In Watkins' last year at Stpehenville the Yellow Jackets went on to win the Class 3A Div. I state championship.

This is also not Watkins' first trip to the Big Country. The Breckenridge graduate also made two coaching stops at Eastland's rival, Cisco, earlier in his coaching career.

Watkins will now be charged with taking over a Eastland team that went 10-0 last season before being knocked out in the regional semifinals by eventual state runner-up Wall.
