Wylie Softball Tops Brownwood For No. 1 Seed

April 21st, 2017 - The Wylie Lady Bulldogs and Brownwood Lady Lions faced off at ACU's Wells Field Friday night in a battle for the number one district seed.

It was a very defensive game. Brownwood's Cheyenne Ellett and Wylie's Kamwren Jackson had great pitching performances, but Wylie came out on top.

The Lady Bulldogs scored one run in the fourth inning courtesy of a fielder's choice, and that was the only run of the game.

With the win Wylie clinches the number one district 5-4A seed for the playoffs, but the two are co-district champs on the season.

"Ever since the beginning of the game I couldn't keep still, my hands were getting very sweaty honestly," Wylie pitcher Kamwren Jackson said.

"I was just super nervous because I know how bad I wanted this and this has been a goal for me ever since I got into high school and now that my team has achieved it, it's just wild."

Wylie plays Iowa Park in the first round of the playoffs next weekend.
