In 2012 garza threw for over two thousand yards and 23 touchdowns. At the same time running for over one thousand yards on the ground with another 13 touchdowns. That offensive performance was a key part of the Tigers ten win turn around.
"Last year was my first year playing varsity. I really didn't know what to expect and we really didn't know how good we were going to be last year," said Jalen Garza.
This year year the defending district 4A-I offensive MVP is poised for another strong season after a lot of work in the off-season and seven-on-seven.
"Last year we felt like we had a lot to prove after being 0-10. We tried to come out and show everybody that we could do it. Now that everybody knows that we could do it, we're going to have more of a target on our back and people are going to be looking out for us. We've been working hard this off-season to just keep better, and improving all year," said Garza.
The expectations are also high in Anson this season. That means the pressure is on the Tigers and Garza.
"This year we have a lot of confidence, and we know how good we're going to be. We know how good we are, and we can be as long as we play good. We have big expectations this year," said Garza.
If the Tigers are going to live up to those expectations, they'll need another solid year from their quarterback. That makes Jalen Garza a player to watch in 2012.
