He will obviously be the cougars top returning passer after throwing for nearly two thousand yards in 2012. Those numbers could continue to go up this year after Joe put in a lot of work in spring and in seven on seven in the passing game.
"Last year was my first year at quarterback, you know, a lot of it was new for me. This year I've got a year under my belt, so everything is fresh. That's why we come out here and keep working. I'm still trying to master the offense, and that's why we come out here and compete with these guys," said Lorenzo Joe.
Joe is also the cougars' top returning rusher and accounted for 24 touchdowns. Meaning the cougars will likely go as far as Lorenzo Joe leads them this season.
"I just want to lead these guys, you know as the quarterback, do my part. There's a lot of young guys out there and I just want to keep doing my part and lead them," said Joe.
"The game has slowed down for him at the quarterback position. He's really doing the leadership, and taking control of our offense. Taking a leadership role, and that's what you expect from a quarterback," said head coach Todd Moebes.
"We want to get that district championship. That's a big goal for us this year. We don't pay attention to the media, and Dave Campbell's magazine because anything can happen this year. So, we go out there and we want to win it out-right this year," said Joe.
With some new faces on the offense and the cougars picked to win district 2-5a this season, Lorenzo Joe is definitely a player to watch in 2013.
