2013 Player to Watch: Mason Reed

Mason Reed is no stranger to the Players to Watch list. He first caught the attention of Lobo fans  during Cisco's run to the Class 2A D-II state title game in 2011.

Last season he built on his strong sophomore campaign with over 1,300 yards on the ground and 29 touchdowns.

"He's just a special kid. He's one of those kids that we expect, especially his senior year, to take a game over. He was able to do that at times last year, and win that big one for you. Usually you graduate those kids and you don't get to look forward to having them back, but we've got one back that we feel like is special. Definitely special on both sides of the ball," said head coach Brent West.

Reed also starts on defense and racked up 114 tackles last season. Even with many offenses running away from the Loboes star linebacker.

"Definitely one of those that can take part of their run game away on that side of the field. We're just glad to have him. He's a special type of kid. Defensively he's one of the better football players we've ever put on the field," said West.

This will also be reed's four year on varsity, and that experience will be valuable as the Loboes look to make another deep run this year.

"We've got a great opportunity ahead of us. It's way too early to spout out how good we're going to be, but we have an opportunity to be good and I think that's all you can ask for. This group of seniors is going to be a great group of leaders. That will give us the ability to win some big games, this type of group that we have," said West.

Needless to say there are high expectations in Cisco this season, and the Loboes will go as far as mason reed leads them. That makes Mason Reed a player to watch in 2013.
