The fun begins at the Mustang Bowl in Sweetwater. The Mustangs host the 8th ranked Wylie Bulldogs in the season finale. Wylie is expected to be finishing their 2nd straight district championship run through District 4-3A, while Sweetwater is looking to get back in the playoffs for the 1st time since 2008. Wylie is dominating this series. Hugh Sandifer's boys are riding a streak of 9 straight victories over Sweetwater, but 2nd year Sweetwater coach Shane Mobley is hoping to change that this year.
For the 2nd year in a row, the Stamford Bulldogs and the Anson Tigers are going to meet for the District 4-A Division I championship. Unlike last year, Anson is not the surprise team of the year. This year, Jalen Garza and the Tigers are expected to be there, and they are ranked 7th in the state to start the year. In 2012, Stamford used their 4 touchdown victory over Anson as a springboard to a state championship. This is the Class A game that most folks in the state will have their eye on in Week 10 this year.
With that said, we have another outstanding match up in Class A Division II in Hamlin. The 5th ranked Albany Lions are headed west to take on the Pied Pipers for the district championship. Albany beat Hamlin for the district title in 2012, so the Pipers will be looking for some pay back. As a matter of fact, the Lions have dominated this series in the last 3 years with 3 straight wins by an average of 47-14. Albany is expected to win the match up, again this year. Hamlin hopes to change their luck against them in Week 10.
