4 Big Country Teams Are Picked To Win Class A District

Stamford, Goldthwaite, Albany, and Munday are all picked to win district championships by Dave Campbell's Texas Football Magazine.
District 4-A Division I is one of the best districts in the state, especially at the top. Defending state champion Stamford is picked to repeat as the district champion this year. Hagen Hutchinson is gone, but Bo Wimberly is ready to step in at quarterback to lead the Bulldogs offense. 8 positions are filled with returning starters from 2012.

The Bulldogs are followed in the district standings by Anson.

The Tigers came out of nowhere in 2012 to earn Texas Football's Class A Team of the Year. Jalen Garza is back at quarterback where he had over 3,000 total yards and 36 touchdowns. Some think Anson will beat Stamford for the district championship this year.

Forsan is picked to take the 3rd playoff spot, but look for Winters and Haskell to push the Buffaloes this year.

The Goldthwaite Eagles are picked to claim another District 5-A Division I crown this year. Greg Proffitt and Jeffrey Head are co-head coaches and take over for Eagles legend Gary Proffitt.

They are picked ahead of Hico and San Saba for the playoff spots. DeLeon is 4th and Santo is expected to finish 5th.

The Albany Lions are 1 of the best Division 2 teams in Class A, and the are picked to be the best team in District 7-A Division II. Head coach Denney Faith's Lions return 3 all-district selections from last year and a total of 11 positions will be filled with returning starters.

The Lions are picked ahead of Hamlin for the District 7-A Division II championship.

The Pipers have 14 positions filled with returning starters including running back Darrius Lee. Lee found the end zone 20 times for Hamlin in their run to the 2012 postseason. Caymon Georges takes over at quarterback for Hamlin.

Cross Plains and Gorman are expected to fight it out for 3rd and 4th place in the district.

Roscoe is 5th. Ranger is 6th. Roby and Baird are picked to finish 7th and 8th in 2013.

Defending Class A Division II champion Munday is picked to win another district crown. The Moguls return just 2 starters on both sides of the ball, but Texas Football thinks it will be enough.

Muenster and Electra are the other playoff teams. Perrin-Whitt, Era, and Petrolia are 4th, 5th, and 6th.
