The Abilene High Eagles are the only team from District 2-5A in the top 25 again this week. The Eagles opened district play with a victory over Amarillo Tascosa. That victory helped head coach Steve Warren's team move up from 17th to 12th after Week 2 of the season. The Eagles host Odessa Permian on Friday night.

The Wylie Bulldogs made the biggest jump of any Big Country school this week. The Bulldogs moved from 15th last week to 3rd this week. Wylie is undefeated on the season and pulled off it's biggest victory last week by beating Graham, who was ranked 5th in the state at the time.

The Merkel Badgers are the only team from the area in the Class 2A Div. I rankings. Head coach Kieth Mullins team lost to Stamford in Week 2 and fell from 6th to 20th this week.

The Cisco Loboes are still standing fast in Class 2A Div. II. The Loboes are ranked 2nd in the division heading into Week 3. The Ballinger Bearcats remained unbeaten with their victory over previously unbeaten San Saba. The Bearcats are ranked 16th this week.

Class A is crowded with Big Country schools in the top 10. Stamford is ranked 2nd in Division I. The Bulldogs rebounded from their loss to Munday to beat state-ranked Merkel in Week 3. Goldthwaite won for the 1st time last week, and this week they are ranked 12th in Div. I.

The Munday Moguls remain ranked number 1 in the state this week. The Moguls survived the gauntlet that was their 1st 3 games. They are still unbeaten. The Albany Lions were 1 of the Moguls victims. They lost to Munday last week. Albany enters Week 3 as the 8th ranked team in Div. II.
