Abilene Hospital Helps Patients Understand the Affordable Care Act

An Abilene hospital is taking an initiative to help people understand the ins and outs of the Affordable Care Act. As KRBC's Nora Hartfeil learned, ACA counselors are now on staff to make the process a little easier.
The Affordable Care Act has been in action for about a week now. But all the change hasn't been without a few glitches and confusion, which is why experts right here in Abilene want to help clear confusion.

"Abilene Regional is really trying to reach out to the community and make them aware of what they need to be doing to prepare themselves for these changes in the marketplace", says Jordan Dorris, of Abilene Regional Medical Center.

Abilene Regional Medical Center hired on a team of trained counselors to break down the ABC's of the ACA.

"We are here to assist anyone who needs help navigating the marketplace. We have people who are certified by the government and their standards", explains Dorris.

With healthcare now at the fingertips of everyone, local doctors encourage everyone to stop in a take advantage of the new services.

"Really, to educate yourself on this will only help you in the long run, because there are individualized plans that can meet your budget", says Dorris.

Whether you're in need of a shot, surgery, or just want to know how to enroll for insurance under the Affordable Care Act, it could be as simple as dropping by the hospital.

Call or drop by Abilene Regional Medical Center to set up an appointment with a healthcare counselor.
