Two weeks after a car hit Ned Maybee on his motorcycle, he and a group of local motorcyclists are working to ban cell phone use while driving.

Maybee was thrown from his bike when a car changed lanes and ran a red light. Maybee's left leg was splintered and reset with metal plates and screws.

He, along with other motorcyclists who have had similar experiences, are working to make sure Abilene roads are not only motorcycle friendly, but free of distracted drivers. The group says they're starting a petition to take to Austin that would ban cell phone use in Abilene.

Members of the group say it's a way to protect their passion of riding while making sure Abilene stays safe.
