On December 25th at approximately 2:30 am, Abilene Police received several calls of a reckless driver on Interstate 20. Patrol Officers made contact with the suspected vehicle, a rented Toyota SUV.
The vehicle was occupied by a 48-year old white female driver who was under obvious medical duress. She told officers that she had abused methamphetamine several times during her travel. She was taken to a local hospital wherein she was treated for serious medical conditions.
The woman’s vehicle was found to have approximately 2 grams of methamphetamine and approximately 180 pounds of hydroponic marijuana. This marijuana has a street value of $1.6 million.
Abilene is not believed to be the intended destination for the marijuana. Agents of the Abilene Special Operations Division will work with the Department of Homeland Security to prosecute this case. No arrests have been made yet.
