The City of Abilene Community Services Department is pleased to announce Abilene has been selected as the 2015 host site for the Texas Recreation and Park Society annual conference.

The conference will bring in approximately 1,000 professionals in the Parks and Recreation field to Abilene. This is an excellent opportunity for Abilene Parks and Recreation staff to showcase their facilities and programs.

“We’re excited to have the privilege of hosting the 2015 TRAPS Annual conference here in Abilene for the first time since 2002.  We cannot wait to showcase all the great things we’re doing with our Parks and Recreation programming with the nearly 1,000 parks and recreation professionals that attend this event,” said Community Services Director James Childers.

The City of Abilene worked with the Abilene Convention and Visitors Bureau to secure the host site for the conference.

“Abilene is eager to host the 2015 TRAPS conference which would not have been possible without the enthusiastic support of the Community Service Department, said Nanci Liles, Executive Director of the Abilene Convention and Visitors Bureau.  Local support is needed to host meetings and we are grateful to the City of Abilene for supporting these efforts.  We look forward to showcasing Abilene to 1,000 TRAPS members around the state. This convention will boost the Abilene economy by $450,000.”
