The ACU men start play in the Southland Conference this week after a long 14 game non-conference schedule.

When the school announced that ACU was moving up to NCAA Division I, everyone associated with the program was excited.

The Wildcats are 0-8 against D-I programs in non-conference play so far this year, but the team is still energized as they head into games with conference opponents.

"I think it's gone well. I think it's what we needed going into [division one]. You get to see the very best, and you get to see all types of team, from Iowa to Open Bible, to everything.  I think it's just been really good for us as a team to get close as a unit. I look forward to see how we do in conference now," said Parker Wentz.
"I think for us to win games in the Southland Conference, we're going to have to limit other teams possessions and we're going to have to do a really good job on the glass rebounding the basketball. Those are two areas I think we've gotten better at, but we're still inconsistant and still in search of," said head coach Joe Golding.

The men and women open play in the Southland Conference on Thursday night over in New Orleans. The women open the night against the Privateers at 5:30. The men's game will tip at 7:30.
