The ACU Wildcats and starting quarterback John David Baker started their transition into NCAA Division I on Saturday night with a bang.

The Wildcats beat Concordia College 84-6 in the season opener on Saturday.

Baker led the Wildcats to the 2nd most points in program history with a school record 7 touchdown passes on the night. He was nervous at the start, but as you can see, he settled down.

Baker said, "At first, it was a little bit nerve racking. I had some jitters, some butterflies, but it was fun. I enjoyed it. I had a blast being out there with teammates just running around making plays, so it was a unique but fun experience for me."

ACU head coach Ken Collums said, "I thought John David managed the game pretty well. After the snap, I thought he was really good.  I thought there were a couple of bad decisions there in the middle, but I thought, for the most part, he made the right decisions, came off his guys when they weren't open and was able to complete 17 passes, so that was really good."

The Wildcats play their 2nd game of the year against McMurry on Saturday night at Shotwell Stadium. It is McMurry's season opener.
