WORTH -- ACU senior Alex Carpenter earned his fourth straight Lone Star
Conference Player of the Year award, while Tarleton State's Isabel Jimenez-Perea
claimed top billing on the women's side Sunday night as the league's annual
postseason golf awards were announced at the championships
officials announced the all-conference teams and individual awards at the
banquet, held in conjunction with the LSC Championships at The Golf Club at
Champions Circle in Fort Worth. The tournament begins Monday with two rounds,
followed by the final round on Tuesday.
Carpenter, who was a unanimous choice, won four
consecutive tournaments this spring and five events overall during his senior
season. A three-time NCAA Division II all-America selection, he has won 20 of
48 tournaments during his four-year career including the LSC titles in 2010 and
2012. Carpenter is believed to hold the NCAA career record for individual
collegiate wins, having surpassed the previous record of 16 set by Phil
Mickelson from 1989-92.
Cameron's Cullen Stahl picked up Freshman of Year
honors, while the Aggies Jerry Hrnciar was named Coach of the Year for the
Carpenter on the men's first team All-LSC was Wildcat teammate Corbin Renner,
CU's Trey Lawson and Austin Weaver, and MSU's Derek Oland.
junior Trey Sullivan was the Wildcats' lone representative on the all-conference
Evans, a senior accounting major from San Antonio, was the Wildcats' lone
selection to the academic all-conference team.
