David Robinett talked to Abilene High head coach Steve Warren about his teams district opening victory over Amarillo Tascosa.

David Robinett asked, "It seems like the next week is a little easier when you are coming off a win. Am I right?

AHS head coach Steve Warren said, "Well, there's no doubt. Even a drink of water tastes better after a win. We were glad to get it, and I thought our guys played, well."

Robinett asked, "Tell me what was different from the 2 previous weeks to last week."

Coach Warren said, "I think it started in practice. We had a great week of work. The kids just kept digging in, and we improved, and we executed extremely well on both sides of the ball."

Robinett said, "Defensively, you weren't allowing much at all. How happy are you with those guys?"

Coach Warren said, "I am really proud that they improved. Playing the option is tough. It's assignment football. I thought we did a really good job of containing that option attack."

Robinett said, "Now you have to get them to focus on this week."

Coach Warren said, "Sure, we went right back to work on Saturday, just like we had the previous weeks when we lost. Now the validated what we've got to do, how we have to practice. This is what it takes to get a "W". Hopefully, going forward that's how we will do things."

District 2-5A play continues for the Eagles on Friday night in Odessa. Abilene High takes on 0-1 Odessa Permian at Ratliff Stadium.
