The Abilene High Eagles are still looking for their second win of the season after a tough loss to crosstown rival Cooper last Friday night. BCH Sports Director David Robinett caught up with head coach Steve Warren for this week's "Tuesday Conversation."

David Robinett said, "Coach Warren, how do you keep your guys up after a disappointing loss to Cooper?"

AHS head coach Steve Warren said, "We've got to stay confident, and there's no reason not to. It just makes it a whole lot more difficult when you haven't won some games. We are kind of in unchartered territory, but we've got a group of hard working kids, and there's no reason for them to be hanging their heads. We need to look forward and not worry about what we haven't done to this point."

Robinett said, "Derek Scott's play has improved each and every week."

Coach Warren said, "Derek has remained really positive. He's a good leader for us, especially on the offensive side. He has gotten better every game, and I thought Friday night was his best game. He took what they gave him. He executed our offense. He didn't force anything and didn't turn the ball over. That's what you like to see out of your quarterback."

Robinett said, "And now Midland Lee is coming to town. This is a rivalry. In the past it's been run, run, run, but now they are spreading it out and throwing the ball. It's going to be a different challenge."

Coach Warren said, "They are well coached. James Morton and I go way back. He's a fine coach, and they've adjusted their offense to their talents a little bit more. They brought in a new offensive coodinator, so they are spreading it out a good bit."

Abilene High hosts the Midland Lee Rebels this Friday night at Shotwell Stadium.
