The Abilene High Eagles defense took a big step forward against Tascosa last week, and inside linebacker Miguel Espinoza really played a great game.

The former nose guard moved to linebacker this season for the 1st time in his life, and it looks like he's getting the hang of it.

Espinoza had 16 tackles, an interception for a touchdown and a fumble recovery against the Rebels.

Linebacker Miquel Espinoza said "It's a big confidence booster. That was a big part of just getting into the rhythm. It's helped me just know that I can play the position. I can do it, and I know that I can make plays now and I feel a lot more comfortable and I feel ready to go."

Head Coach Steve Warren said "He'll continue to get better and better and better every single day and each game I think his production will go up and up as well."

Espinoza and the Eagles are on the road this week in district play. They take on Odessa Permian at Ratliff Stadium. Permian is 0-1 in District 2-5A.
