Friday morning an alarm went off at Long Elementary, and although that turned out to be a false alarm, others have not.

Thursday Abilene High was vandalized: windows were broken and trash cans were lit on fire. On the same day, Johnston Elementary was broken into and computers were stolen.

AISD says summer burglaries are unfortunately a trend and that the children are the real victims. Money used to replace the damage could have been used towards books or other positive learning tools.
