Parents and other interested members of the public can learn more about a standardized dress proposal for middle schools at four informational meetings.
Parents and other interested members of the public can learn more about a standardized dress proposal for middle schools at four informational meetings.

Principals of Abilene ISD”s four middle schools will explain details of the proposal at each of their campuses. The remainder of the meetings will be dedicated to answering questions and receiving feedback from the audience.

Here is the schedule for the informational meetings:
  • Clack Middle School: Tuesday, November 19, 5:30 – 6:30 p.m.
  • Mann Middle School: Tuesday, November 19, 5:30 – 6:30 p.m.
  • Craig Middle School: Monday, December 9, 6:30 – 7:30 p.m.
  • Madison Middle School: Monday, December 9, 6:30 – 7:30 p.m.

In May, principals introduced the proposal to the Abilene ISD Board of Trustees and outlined a plan that would feature informational meetings designed to receive feedback from parents and the community. The principals plan to return to Trustees in the spring semester to report their findings for possible implementation of the new standardized dress code beginning in the 2014-15 school year. Trustees must approve changes to the dress code.

The proposal does not require students to dress in a uniform but rather a flexible selection of clothing from which students may choose. Elementary and high school campuses will not be affected.
