Albany, Goldthwaite, Gorman, Hamlin Picked To Win District

9 Big Country high school football teams are picked to go to the playoffs in the 2011 edition of Dave Campbell's Texas Football Magazine.
We start with District 4 in Division 1. The Albany Lions have a great senior class to replace, but head coach Denney Faith's team is still picked to win the district. Injury forced Jake Bumgardner into the lineup at quarterback as a sophomore, but the early call up makes him one of the leaders this year.

The Stamford Bulldogs are next in the district. All everything quarterback Hagen Hutchinson is back as a junior. Hutch led the Dogs with over 35-hundred total yards on offense and he collected 120 tackles on defense.

Seymour is picked 3 in district 4, followed by Olney in 4th place and Haskell in 5th.

The Deleon Bearcats are expected to return to the playoffs. They are picked 2nd in Division 1 district 7. Bosqueville is the preseason favorite.

2010 ended with the Goldthwaite Eagles losing in the  Division I championship game, and they just might go back again in 2011. The 2009 state champs are the favorites to win district 13 this year. Tyler Horton is back under center to lead head coach Gary Proffitt's team.

Mason and 3-thousand yard rusher David Mora is picked 2nd followed by Winters. The Blizzards have 8 positions filled with starters. Eldorado and Big Lake Reagan Ccounty are 4th and 5th.

Now to Division 2, the Hamlin Pied Pipers are the top choice in District 7. Head coach Russell Lucas is blessed with 13 position filled with starters including 4 of 5 starting linemen from 2010. The Pipers need a quarterback and new receivers to make another run in 2011.

Crosbyton are picked to be the other playoff teams from the district. Roscoe, Roby and Rotan are picked to be the final 3 teams.

The Munday Moguls were among the final 8 teams in Division 2 last year, and they are expected to go back to the playoffs, 16 positions are filled with returning starters. The offense is led by quarterback Dee Paul. Paul rushed for over 2-thousand yards and 28 touchdowns in 2010.

Windthorst is picked to win the district. Archer City should come in 3rd according to Texas Football, and Electra and Perrin-Whitt bring up the rear.
