Wednesday afternoon at about 5:30 p.m., Officer John Lopez responded to a shoplifter call at a business in the 1600 block of Hwy 351. APD dispatch was contacted by a store employee concerning a female subject that they detained for alleged theft. Officer Lopez contacted the involved parties and his investigation revealed that asset protection personnel observed the subject at a self-checkout placing merchandise into carry-out bags without scanning said items. The subject then attempted to leave the store before being contacted by a store employee. 33 Blu-ray discs valued at approximately $1,014 were recovered. The subject was arrested for felony Theft and warned not to return to the store.
Wednesday afternoon at about 6:15 p.m., Officer Alfred Dixon responded to a burglary call at a residence in the 400 block of S. Mockingbird Lane. APD dispatch had been contacted by a victim concerning a burglary at her home; she reported someone had forcibly entered the home and she suspected a known perpetrator. Officer Dixon arrived on scene and contacted the victim. Officer Dixon confirmed that there were signs the residence had been entered forcibly. The victim reported her TV stolen. While Officer Dixon was still at the crime scene, a male suspect returned to the residence with the stolen TV. The investigation revealed that the suspect had committed the burglary and he was arrested for Burglary of a Habitation.
Wednesday evening at about 9:50 p.m., Officer Paul Martinez responded to a disturbance call at a residence in the 3000 block of South 7 Street. APD dispatch had been contacted by a male subject stating he had been in an altercation with his girlfriend. Officers arrived on scene and contacted both involved parties. The investigation revealed that the male and female couple had been in a verbal altercation that escalated into violence when the male subject kicked his girlfriend out of bed, resulting in her falling to the floor. The girlfriend then exited the bedroom and went into the kitchen where the boyfriend allegedly threw her to the floor. Victim injuries consistent with a physical altercation were observed by Officer Martinez, including a swollen arm and a bump on the victim’s face. The victim requested an emergency protective order. The subject was arrested for misdemeanor Assault (family violence).
