A 74-year-old male victim notified APD dispatch that he had arrived home to find that his home had been burglarized and that his television had been stolen. Officer Davis’ investigation revealed that the victim implicated a possible suspect. A 60-inch flat screen TV was the only item reported stolen with an approximate value of $1,000. Wednesday night at about 10:20 p.m., Officers Carye Adkins and Chris Volirakis responded to a disturbance at a residence in the 900 block of Carver Street. APD was notified by a concerned citizen that a fight was occurring in the street among a group of men. Another concerned citizen also observed a male and a female fighting in the street. Officer Adkins contacted a female subject that identified herself as an assault victim. A male subject was also contacted. The preliminary investigation revealed that a verbal altercation between the female and male subjects escalated into violence and that the male subject had pushed the victim down to the ground. The subject then allegedly grabbed the victim’s head and then began choking the victim, impeding her airway. Officer Adkins also reported that the victim had attempted to get away from the subject on a few occasions during the physical assault. The victim’s injuries were described as minor. An emergency protective order was requested. The subject was arrested for felony Assault (family violence).

The store employee notified APD dispatch that a male subject had entered the business and made a demand for money from the cash register and then fled on-foot. A description of the suspect was provided by the employee as well as a concerned citizen that was nearby and saw a male subject running behind a nearby store. Several officers converged to the scene, but initial attempts to locate the suspect were unsuccessful. An undisclosed quantity of money was stolen. The preliminary investigation revealed that the subject was described as a white male, about age 45, approximate height of 5’ 8”, with a heavy build. The suspect wore black attire. The employee reported seeing an imprint of a gun underneath the suspect’s coat. The employee was not injured. A report for robbery was taken and this investigation continues.
