APD: Man Caught Punching Side of Apartment Complex

Police are called after a man is observed punching the side of an Abilene apartment complex.

Tuesday afternoon at about 4:10 p.m., Officers Jake Allred and Donny Brown responded to a criminal mischief call in-progress at an apartment complex in the 2500 block of Nonesuch Road. APD dispatch had been notified about a male subject hitting a building at the premises. The reporting party provided a description of the subject, adding that the subject’s hands were busted up. Officer Allred contacted the subject after observing the subject running from the apartment complex. The investigation revealed that the subject was very intoxicated. The investigation also revealed that the subject was observed using his fist to break five separate siding slats on the back side of the main office building. Damages were estimated at $400. The subject was arrested for Public Intoxication. A report for misdemeanor Criminal Mischief was documented.

Tuesday afternoon at about 5:05 p.m., Officer Ed Cutbirth responded to a criminal mischief call at a business in the 2000 block of Butternut Street. APD dispatch had been contacted by a male victim who reported that three of his tires on his SUV had been slashed. Officer Cutbirth contacted the victim and documented the incident. Damages are estimated at approximately $1,200. The victim believes a known subject may be involved and is willing to press charges. A report for misdemeanor Criminal Mischief was documented and this investigation continues.

Tuesday night at about 7:20 p.m., Officer Martin Walker responded to a shoplifter call at a business in the 1600 block of Hwy 351. APD dispatch had been notified by an asset protection employee concerning a female suspect detained for alleged theft. Officer Martin’s investigation revealed that the female suspect had been observed by store employees acting suspiciously inside the store. The suspect was then observed selecting merchandise from various locations in the store. The suspect then hid the merchandise in her purse. The suspect was observed paying for one item at a self-checkout, but exited the store without rendering payment for the concealed merchandise in her purse. Approximately $115 in stolen merchandise was recovered. The suspect was arrested for misdemeanor Theft.
