Bell Ringers Hoping For A Rush In Donations

The goal every year for Salvation Army Bell Ringers is about $100,000 in Abilene, they say they are not even close.

Just five bell ringing days left for Salvation Army Bell Ringers to raise money while we shop.

KTAB has learned they are thousand of dollars short of their yearly goal after they were delt a double blow this Christmas season.

For many when they hear the sound of that bell as they walk up to a store, that's when the Christmas season start.

According to Capt. Linda Keene with the Abilene Salvation Army, it's when it definitely starts for the Salvation Army.

She says agreements with bigger retails chains dictates that they do not bell ring until Black Friday which came a little later this year.

On top of that the ice storm also set them back, keeping bell ringers and shoppers at home.

The goal every year is about $100,000, Keene says they are not even close.
