Big Country Kids Compete in Robot Building Competition

The Lego Mindstorm Robotics competition brought hundreds of area kids together to showcase their inventions.
Hundreds of Big Country students competed in the Lego Mindstorm robotics competition that was held at Clyde High School on Saturday.
The participants were instructed to design, construct, create, assemble, invent, and then present their robots. The robots had to have the ability to solve a problem.

Sponsor of the robotics team of Austin Elementary School in Abilene, Jennifer McLean, explains that the technology skills that the kids developed while working on this project will help them in the long run.

Michele Einkauf, parent of a robotics competition participant, explained that she did not think her daughter would be interested in something like this, but she is thankful for the competition and the sponsors for opening this door for her.

The winners of the first and second place prizes in each of the four categories of competition are eligible to go on to a state competition that will be held in Deer Park, TX in April.

Six different school districts competed in the competition including Abilene, Comanche, Clyde, Sweetwater, Westbrook, and Wylie.
