The Brownwood Lions and Wylie Bulldogs both went unbeaten on Saturday in pool play at the Brownwood State Qualifier.

Brownwood would first take on their traditional rival, Stephenville, in pool play at Brownwood High School. The Lions would waste little time getting on the board in that match-up.

First it was a touchdown pass from Chris Keesee to Kaimon Ontiveros to get the Lions on the board. A short time later the Lions would again find Ontiveros in the endzone for another touchdown.

Brownwood would cruise from there to pick up a 55-6 victory over the Yellowjackets, and a 3-0 record in pool play.

Wylie would also cruise to a perfect record. First with a win over Pecos at Gordon Wood Stadium. The Bulldogs would follow that up with a victory over Jim Ned where they held the Indians to just seven points.

They would close out pool play with a win over Llano, but the Bulldogs would not move out of pool play after clinching a spot in the state tournament at another qualifier.

Eastland would also be held out of the semifinals after clinching a spot the week before in Stephenville.

At the same time, that didn't mean the competition was going to look past the Mavericks. Class 1A Haskell took the field on Saturday looking to knock off the Mavericks.

The Indians would strike first with at touchdown in the first half, but ultimately the Mavericks would prove to be too much for Haskell.

Eastland would finish the day at 2-1 in pool play. At the same time, Haskell would finish at 1-2 with a win over Junction in the opening game.
