Brownwood Christmas Tree Auction Returns After Cancellation

The icy weather weeks ago cancelled many events for this year's Brownwood Christmas Under the Stars Festival but some of the planned activities are returning.
The icy weather weeks ago cancelled many events for this year's Brownwood Christmas Under the Stars Festival but some of the planned activities are returning.

On Friday and Saturday, the Lehnis Train Museum held their Christmas tree auction that was originally scheduled for the festival.  Santa Claus was present at the free event and took pictures with children. A total of six trees were up for auction. At the end, the money raised from the auction will benefit several non-profit organizations.

On Saturday, one tree had already been sold to the Boys and Girls Club. Other activities from the event include decorating crosses donated by McCoy's Building Supply in Brownwood.

The bidding stopped mid-Saturday afternoon and the highest bidder was able to pick up the tree anytime they want. The curator says there was a good turnout despite the original cancellation.
