The Brownwood Lions are getting ready to take on Burnet to open district play.

The Lions lost their first two games of the year to state ranked Graham and Fort Worth All Saints, but they seem to have things headed in the right direction now.

Head coach Chuck Howard's team has won two of it's last three, and they are ready to go after last week's open date.

Conner Vara said, "The team overall is feeling really good. The rest week did help. Just getting people back, getting the team at full strength, gives a little time to recuperate."

Coach Chuck Howard said "They're excited. They're ready to go. They know everybody is zero and zero, all records are out the door, and our goal coming into this thing was to win the district championship and this is the first step."

The Lions open District 8-3A play at home against Burnet tomorrow night. The Bulldogs are 4-1 so far this year. Brownwood opened district last year with a 12 point victory in Burnet.
