The Brownwood Lions are picked to win their district by Texas Football Magazine, and they are having a very good summer in 7-on-7 so far this year.

The Lions are headed to the state tournament next month after qualifying at the Gatesville tournament a few weeks ago.

This is quarterback Chris Keesee's 2nd year leading the offense, and he says he can tell the team is getting better every day.

Keesee said, "Our chemistry has gotten a lot better. I feel way, more comfortable now in Brownwood. I think it's helped us in 7-on-7."

Receiver Kaimon Ontiveros added, "Coach Howard, he's real intense on the defensive side of the ball. He has been all 3 years that I've been here with him. He bringing that intensity to the offensive side of the ball. There's no walking around on offense.  Everything is high tempo and fast-paced."

Keesee also said, "We know the plays a lot better, and they run them really well. Our timings down, and I know them all really well, so being around them so much, just, helps me."

The state tournament is coming up. The Lions join several other area teams in the Austin area on July 11th and 12th.
