Cooper Happy To Be Back In Playoffs

The Cooper Cougars are trying to bounce back from a tough 54-53 loss to Odessa Permian on Friday night. The loss essentially ended the Cougars hopes of a district championship, but they are headed back to the playoffs for the 7th year in a row and the 19th time in the last 23 years.

It's good to know that the season is going to continue for head coach Todd Moebes and his team.

Coach Moebes said, "You are only guaranteed 10 games when you look at the schedule at the beginning of the year.  You want to find every opportunity to be able to make the postseason and give seniors one more opportunity to play a high school football game. To have our seniors, this year, to be able to have that opportunity is great. To be able to do it 7 years in a row in fantastic. It's a credit to our staff and the kids that have come through here. It's good to get in and have the opportunity to play some more football."

Cooper can still claim a share of the district crown with some help, and it starts with the Cougars beating San Angelo Central on Friday night. Their season final is at Shotwell Stadium at 7:30 on Friday.
