TYLER, Texas — Hardin-Simmons’ volleyball team split a pair of matches on Saturday at the American Southwest Conference pod in Tyler, beating LeTourneau 25-21, 20-25, 25-9, 25-23 and falling 25-17, 25-18, 25-22 to East Texas Baptist.
Against LeTourneau, the teams split the first two games. HSU then rolled 25-9 in the third game and rallied from a 19-13 deficit to win the deciding game 25-23.
Tori Martinez led the Cowgirl attack with 14 kills and Morgan Watts added 10 kills. Ashley Babineaux had 22 digs and Ellen Dees had 11 digs. Tucker Smith had 26 assists and Molli Owen added 19.
Christine Sas led the Cowgirls with eight kills and also added 16 digs in the loss to ETBU. Babineaux had 19 digs and Smith and Owen had 18 assists each. Morgan Watts had five blocks.
The Cowgirls are now 15-10 overall and 10-3 in American Southwest Conference play.
HSU will finally return home next weekend to host its first and only matches of the regular season.
