The Wylie Bulldogs continue their ridiculous non-district schedule in Week 4 with a home game against Class 5A Birdville. The Hawks are the 4th straight playoff team from 2014 the Bulldogs will have faced in the season, and they may be the best team Wylie will face up to that point. Birdville is picked to win District 6-5A in 2014 and they are ranked 25th in the state. Wylie is picked to be the 2nd place team in District 3-4A Division I in 2014. J.T. Cary will be in his 4th game as the starting quarterback for the Bulldogs and should be rounding into shape by the time he takes the field against the Hawks.
The Albany Lions and Anson Tigers are set to get together in a non-district game between state-ranked teams. Albany is ranked 2nd in Class A Division II by Texas Football Magazine to start the season. Head coach Denney Faith's team has 11 starters back from a team that went to the semifinals in 2013, and they are ranked 2nd in the state. The Anson Tigers are going through a transition with Chris Hagler taking over for Keith Woolf as head coach. The Tigers are the pick in District 4-2A Division I and start 2014 ranked 12th in the state. The Tigers look like the 1st real test for Albany, and the game will be a good gauge for both teams.
The Goldthwaite Eagles are well known for their difficult non-district schedules, and that trend continues in 2014 with a home game against Mason. The 9th-ranked Eagles are set to take on 7th ranked Mason. The Eagles have 14 positions filled with returning starters from last season's area champions. This is the Eagles 2nd game against a top 10 team in non-district.
Brownwood's game with Alvarado leads the list of games that are worthy of mention in Week 4. District favorite Breckenridge makes the trip to Eastland, and district favorites collide in Class 2A when Winters travels north to take on Hamlin.
