The homeowners had lived in the home since 1989. But what made the house so special was that the homeowners built the house themselves within three months.

Both Bobby and Yolanda Gwinn were at work and came home to find half of their house on fire.

After watching fire fighters put out the flames they were able to walk through it and see what could be saved.

Some clothes and pictures were saved and all the pets did make it out of the house.

The American Red Cross and Salvation Army have offered to donate items to the homeowners.

But through all of this, Bobby Gwinn realized what great friends he has. Many friends showed up with items or stopped by to see if they could help, and Gwinn could not be more grateful.

Abilene Fire Department responded to the house fire, shortly before one p-m at the 1500 block of Locust.

When fire fighters arrived heavy smoke was coming from the house.

According to AFD, the fire started in a shed that is near the covered car lot. However, the investigation is still on going as to what started the fire.

No one was injured however someone was treated at the scene for having difficulty breathing, but did not go to the hospital.

Fire fighters stayed on the scene after they put the fire out to check on hot spots.
