The Abilene City Council approved a partial closure of Campus Court Thursday after residents expressed concerns over the road being connected in future to an I-20 access road.

The City voted to abandon Campus Court just north of Garfield so that any future developments will not bring traffic off of I-20 into that area.

Instead, the area will end in a cul-de-sac and the new access road will not directly connect with that neighborhood, allowing for new developments without interfering with residents.

The Abilene City Council also approved a zoning change that will allow an assisted living facility to be built on a lot at North 6th Street where the 2121 apartment complex burned down in 2003.

The land has not been used since then.
