If you're a woman and licensed to shoot, your skills are in hot demand.

There is a growing market for female gun instructors as more women learn to shoot, according to Cat Colson, owner of Heart of Texas Guns.

Colson is going through the National Rifle Association Instructor Certification and has started a local chapter of the Well Armed Woman in Abilene. She hosts a gun club to help educate women about shooting for self-defense and as a sport.

"There is such a huge spike in women shooters," says Colson. "Outside of the shooting clubs, there is also a spike in women getting certified."

Colson is currently going through the NRA training to be a certified instructor in hand gun, shot gun, and rifle shooting. She plans to teach others about using a firearm as well.
