The tournament will be played at The Home Course in DuPont, Wash., and will be hosted by the Great Northwest Athletics Conference. The 54-hole tournament will get started May 6 with 18 holes, followed by 18 holes on May 7 and the final 18 holes on May 18.
Joining the Wildcats from the South Central Region are No. 1 seed Colorado School of Mines, LSC champion Midwestern State, No. 3 ACU, No. 4 Cameron, No. 5 Colorado-Colorado Springs, No. 6 St. Edward's, No. 7 Dallas Baptist, No. 8 Colorado State-Pueblo, No. 9 Incarnate Word and No. 10 Western New Mexico.
In the tournament from the West Region are Cal State-Monterey Bay, Western Washington, Grand Canyon, Cal State-Stanislaus, Hawaii Hilo, Sonoma State, Cal State-Chico, California-San Diego, Cal State-East Bay and Dixie State (Utah).
ACU's super regional is the second-toughest of the four with seven of the nation's top 25 teams in the latest Golf World / Nike Golf Division I Coaches' poll. Monterey Bay is ranked No. 4 in the poll, followed by ACU at No. 7, Western Washington at No. 8, Grand Canyon and Cal State-Stanislaus tied at No. 11, Hawaii Hilo at No. 17 and School of Mines at No. 21.
The South / Southeast Super Region might well be a better tournament than the national championship tournament as 15 of the top 25 teams in the country are in the super regional, including No. 1 Nova Southeastern (Fla.), No. 2 Barry (Fla.), No. 3 South Carolina-Aiken, No. 5 Lynn (Fla.), No. 6 Florida southern, No. 9 North Alabama and No. 10 Columbus State (Ga.).
The Wildcats won their first tournament of the spring and finished in the top four in five of their six spring tournaments. However, they played their last two tournaments (Dallas Baptist Patriot Classic and LSC Tournament) without Trey Sullivan, and will play the rest of the season without him after he underwent surgery for a lower-back injury.
At a minimum, the top three teams and the top two student-athletes not with a team from each regional (regardless of region) will advance to the finals May 20-24, at Hershey Country Club in Hershey, Pa. In addition, the fourth and fifth place teams from both the Central and Midwest Regional and from the South Central and West Regional will advance to the finals. From the South and Southeast Regional, the teams finishing fourth, fifth, sixth, and seventh will also advance to the finals.
