The Maker Lab has been talked about plenty around campus, but today was an open house event where people could understand what really goes on in the Maker Lab.
The ACU Maker Lab houses 3-dimensional printers, laser printers, and several other machines that serve as great teaching tools. Students from all disciplines are encouraged to collaborate and experiment with new ways to make things.
3-dimensional printers are machines that will become more and more popular in the next several years. These machines have the ability to print nearly any object.
ACU Assistant Professor of Art and Design, Nil Santana, says that he expects this maker movement to be comparable to the Industrial Revolution. He believes that the maker movement will make that much of an impact because it will allow people to literally print household items like lamps and tables.
The concept seems difficult to understand now, but many students are well on their way to creating amazing things.
