Even though the Affordable Care Act became available on October 1st, the Presbyterian Medical Care Mission has not seen a decrease in patient appointments.
The Presbyterian Medical Care Mission celebrated their 30th anniversary this month.The mission provides primary care and dental care to uninsured individuals in the area. The mission serves around 800 patients a month and about 10,000 patients a year.
The mission has a trained medical staff, but relies on volunteers to preform the support tasks.
Executive Director, Debra Burchett, says that the mission has not seen a decrease in patient appointments since the Affordable Care Act became available on October 1st.
