Aleman Fuels Cowboys To Fourth Place Finish

SUN CITY, Texas — Junior Sean Aleman shot rounds of 73 and 72 and his 145 total was good for a fifth place individual finish to lead Hardin-Simmons men’s golf team to fourth place at the Mary Hardin-Baylor Fall Invitational that was played at the par-72, 7,050-yard Cowan Creek Golf Course in Sun City.

SUN CITY, Texas — Junior Sean Aleman shot rounds of 73 and 72 and his 145 total was good for a fifth place individual finish to lead Hardin-Simmons men’s golf team to fourth place at the Mary Hardin-Baylor Fall Invitational that was played at the par-72, 7,050-yard Cowan Creek Golf Course in Sun City.

Aleman’s fifth-place finish was his first career top 10 finish. Brandon Heard shot 78-74-152 to place 22nd and Ryan Hughes shot a 74-79 to place in a tie for 25th with a 153 total. Sam Rogers shot 78-79-157 and Preston Godfrey posted a 76 after shooting 83 in his first collegiate round on Monday.

Austin Prior (79-86-165), David Buzali (86-82-168) and Hiram Benitez (89-87-176) all competed as medalists for the Cowboys.

Tyler Junior College ran away from the 11-team field with a two-round total of 575, Mary Hardin-Baylor was second at 586, Northwood was third with 599, HSU shot 303-301 for a 604 total and the UMHB gold team was fifth with a 612.
Brandon Rougeau of Tyler Junior College shot a 67-71-138 to defeat teammate Charlie Cameron by one stroke in the medalist race.

HSU will be in action next week at the Al Jones Invitational at the Cascades in Tyler.
